Nissan started the worldwide EV revolution when they announced LEAF 2009 & began shipping units worldwide in 2011 when the LEAF was awarded the World Car of the Year award for its then highly innovative design & technology, long since being passed up in these regards by Tesla Model 3 which is now the worlds best selling EV as of 2023, though more total units of LEAF have been sold around the world with more than 600,000 Nissan LEAF's driving around in the real world right now!
The EV space heating up with many electric vehicles powered by lithium ion batteries from most of the worlds automakers. The SUV_EV space in particular trending with well healed boomers looking for better ingress & egress ergonomics to make getting into & out of the trending SUV EV easier on their aging bodies, skeletal & muscle systems. Consider the Gen. 2 pro-pilot that only requires a light finger touch on the steering wheel to keep it auto-steering on the highway while the 62kWh battery gives ~200 ish miles of range per charge & the fully spaced 82kWh battery gives more than 300 miles per charge.
2-ton electric SUV's have more interior space than their ICE ancestors due to the flat clean sheet skateboard battery pack electric motor drivetrain solution developed by Nissan & much earlier by GM for related prototype electric cars that were debuted when I was a child in the early 1990's. Its been possible for the automakers to make battery electric automobiles since 1880, as the first vehicles sold to the general public were able to go about 12 mph for 20 miles using flood lead acid batteries made o of lead & lead oxide plates held apart inside a wax coated wooden box since plastic was not commercially available yet. The Chinese Market Model Y uses LFP because its more abuse tolerant to deep cycling and charing infrastructure less developed and grid power less stability in many locals in China where coal power & rapid industrialization prioritizes power flow to factories in FEZ no-tax zones for exporting goods to import money economy focus, while the general public in many locals in China has to deal with grid power outages & brownouts more frequently than most factories & where massive amounts of air pollution are created as a result of widespread use of coal power thermal coal combustion power plants to make grid energy while releasing enormous quanties are acid rain forming fumes & particulate matter or PM super fine soot & dust & smoke that clogs the local air with pea soup foul smelling toxic funk that causes many Chinese people to immigrate to other countries, so they can breathe better & so their children & elderly parents can recover from the lung disorders & breathing problems caused by inhaling coal power emissions.
