Imaging Sensors Expanding Human Vision

Your full frame digital camera is weak or puny. Surveillance drones make use of the entire CMOS wafer as the imaging sensor with trillions of pixels of resolution. Balloon mounted surveillance drones can read the text on a cigarette being smoked by a person moving. The optics on these drones cost more than your average new car & the entire system costs more than a typical home in America. I am talking about aerospace imaging technology made in low volumes in clean rooms that cost more than the business you work for.



There are technologies from ASML that are more costly than the size of some poor economies. Machines used at TSMC to make the most power efficient chips in Apple's latest iPhone. In mobile phones the SOC made with bleeding edge technology because it has to run on tiny amounts of energy from the phones internal lithium polymer battery. LiPo batteries are used in portable consumer electronics because they have the highest energy density or the amount of power they hold relative to their mass & size.

But lithium-ion batteries are limited because they fade quickly when charged to 100% over & over again. This means your smartphone battery wears out and does not hold a charge as well as it did when it was new, after 3 years of daily use. You can take your phone to a repair shop to have the battery replaced, but most people will just upgrade to a new smartphone with better cameras. Cameras are the sizzle that sell the smartphones, since they are all relatively similar otherwise.

Imaging turns out to be important because our human eyes are our only sense that works with great precision over long distances. Think about vision and how your eyes feed your brain information since your brain stuck inside a bone skull filled with cerebrospinal fluid.

Your brain has to make sense of the world around you, learn language, how to communicate, ways to understand how things work, how to make it happen in life in all the ways that people do working in teams with teamwork on common shared goals to upgrade & improve everything, continually perusing greater excellence in all ways, especially to completely decarbonize all human activity in the Biosphere of Earth to make the world a better place, actually eco-friendly of safe for all life, for everyone's benefit. 

To understand the huge scale of human activity, consider carbon emissions worldwide. Trillions of tons of CO2 from billions of people making heat energy burning carbon. Most transportation worldwide not battery electric, its mostly energized by fossil fuels made from crude oil at oil refineries around the world. These oil refineries are some of the largest electrical power users in the world, since they use resistive heaters in the crude oil distillation process for tighter thermal control, oh and Transporation fuels like gasoline, diesel, propane, butane, methane, natural gas, Jet A, those are mass produced by the giga-ton.

If gasoline was made in small volumes, it would cost a lot more. The problem with crude oil is that its limited and we are running out of it. Worse, burning up that much oil based fuel releases so much carbon that the concentration in Earth's atmosphere now 424ppm, up from 280ppm when industrialization started. Wood & other biomass is burned for heat to make hot air, hot water & steam to turn turbines to make electricity. Many municipalities burn trash for thermal power production in facilities featuring complex emissions controls to limit air pollutant emissions to protect public health near those waste burning facilities.
