IBM Error Mitigation Eagle Quantum Processor Breakthrough

Modeling material magnetic spin on a quantum computer, IBM researchers proved that the emerging new quantum computer processor using qubits with analog properties to outperform classical computers in simulation of a complex real-world problem to prove an energy efficient pathway to supercomputer performance with less electricity in near term practical affordable low power quantum computing hardware that will revolutionize computing. In a similar vein, Intel launched the Tunnel Falls qubit processor lineup with similar revolutionary relevance.

Magnetic stabilization of the quantum qubit states needed to filter noise so that useful information processing can be accomplished. Many early quantum computers used qubits in cryogenic insulated systems the size of a house that cost millions of dollars, in order to keep noise out of the qubits.

Qubits can exist in many states at once, so unlike the on off of traditional computers, complex big data can be processed across a small number of qubits. Traditional CMOS logic used to get data into & out of the qubits in quantum processors. 

By exploiting the quantum states of the qubits, complex problems with big data sets can be solved faster with less energy, but there are still technical problems to overcome before market commercialization will cause global diffusion and mass adoption of quantum computing. 

Biometric identify, network security, identify verification, cryptography, autonomous driving, market analytic, weather forecasting, climate change analysis, simulating the entire biochemistry of the human body including all the flora and fauna in our gut, in our ear, eyes, nose, mouth, throat, hair, feet, nails, literally simulating nature with infinite chemical detail using trillions of terabytes of actual physical data collected from the patient being studied.

Quantum computing enables new computer applications from sci-fi to be done quickly, cheaply, without all the energy wasting heat generated from classic CMOS complimentary mixed oxide semiconductor chip digital switching compute used widely in computers today, including servers, cloud computing, workstations, desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and wearables. 

Lets examine what a CMOS computer consists of using a typical desktop computer :

The power supply takes AC current flowing from the hot to the neutral from the power outlet cable and converts it to high amperage DC at 12v 5v 3v & then uses an ATX power cable to send those different rails of DC current into the motherboard. Miles of wiring across 10 layers of motherboard connects the CPU, RAM, networking chips, power chips, SSD, and other IO accessories together into a system control by firmware instructions stored on the CMOS chips socketed on the motherboard. Firmware a kind of machine instruction set that enables the software to turn on & use all the motherboard hardware systems. 

When you turn the computer on, power starts moving around the mainboard via the power supply, that came from the grid power outlet, from power generation capacity, as provided by the local power utility for example.

Information from the hard-drive with the boot loader instruction gives the SSD information needed to retrieve the OS & user files & turn on. Further information streams to the monitor to display what is going on.

The motherboard usually has a speaker and some diagnostic LED lights to help troubleshoot when building or modding the PC. The PC case holds all the parts together along with fans to blow air around the inside, sucking air into the case and exhausting hot air out of the case.

Forced active air colling workings along with finned heatsinks usually made of aluminum or copper, to take waste heat out of the hot chips and dump it into the flowing air gas molecules to be exhausted, in order to keep the chips from overheating which can crack fail the chips or dramatically lower their useful operating lifetime. Over-clockers deliberately turn up the frequency scaling of the main chips to improve compute performance with additional cooling used like an AIO or all-in-one water cooling setup to keep the CPU & GPU and RAM cooler. 

ARM RISC style SOC or systems on a chip take all the PC components and stack them into an integrated chip die stack, so that the CPU, GPU, RAM and many hardware accelerators specific to image processing, signal processing, noise reduction, artificial intelligence processing, microphone analog to digital, camera enhancement recording of images & video, to enable network access to 5G, 4G LTE, 3G, 2G or 1G mobile networks, to enable use of Bluetooth & Wi-Fi radio transceivers.

Your smartphones touchscreen translate your finger tip capacitance inputs into electrical pulses that execute the action of machine instructions to run code or do something in the OS or operating system, the colorful image parts on your screen that your touching to make the phone do something. 

The SOC uses a network on a chip communication system to route data to all the hardware accelerators & special information processing zones of the SOC, then into & out of the SOC to accomplish all the features & function tasks the end user of the device seeks to realize through the smartphones operation. Made using the latest EUV lithography at TSMC on ASML machines that cost more than the entire economy of some smaller countries, the Apple Silicon chipsets based on RISC or reduced instruction set computing information processing methods from ARM holdings. "

Power efficient specialized SOC computer chips needed the latest Chip Fab nodes in order to get power efficiency so the smartphone can operating on tiny amounts of electrical power from a tiny lithium polymer battery inside the case of the smartphone, that the user charges with a grid power adapter over a charging cable to refill with electrical energy, so the phone can be charged & discharged over and over again many hundreds or thousands of times, over the 3-5 year useful life of such devices. Laptops designed to last 4-8 years, desktops are designed to last 7-12 years, servers are designed to last 20 years. 

We could look at CMOS chips like the typical smartphone SOC as a brain, analogous to a human brain, but the human brain has more in common with qubits in a quantum processor. Brain information processing happens across cell systems that self-assemble and also dynamically rewire adaptively in response to what the brain doing as the person makes choices in reality, such that we literally become more like what we do regularly.

This is why your thought life can have such a dramatic effect on your bodily health. In medicine, this is known as the mind body connection. In qubit processors the same kind of analog activation potential signal propagation & feedback or back feeding of information happens such that the human mind sort of like a 700 TB hall of mirrors that echo's what you have been doing or thinking about recently.

Consider how listening to music can cause that music to echo around in your head for a few days, or how your dreams reflect themes of what you have been doing or thinking about recently, even if they seem a little weird, since your brain releases DMT while your dreaming, so you can hallucinate dreams even through your body just laying mostly still in bed or where ever you happen to be sleeping. 

A human being a complex systems of cell systems. I computer a system of CMOS chips wired up with lots of tiny wires to move data as DC current pulses controlled by a clock system that causes the chips to cycle many millions or billions of times per second. If you could hear this it would sound very high pitch. Computers are literally screaming fast now, such that the sound of such too high pitch for our ears or auditory nerves to send as signals to our brains.

Ironically hearing ultimately sends electrical information into the human brain, that's how cochlear implants work, they send electrical signals based on microphone data & sound processing DSP technology directly into the human cochlea as pulsing electronic signals, bursts of electrons stimulating the nerve bundles that transmit that data into the brain where signals that fire together wire together as the brain takes information from our sensors into its dark fluid filled skull & does all sorts of specialized mind processing for vision, hearing, speech & skeletal muscle coordination, so that people can communicate & do all sorts of things as teams working together to make amazing things like the internet or world wide web come together & happen.

We see the greatest works of mankind as the cumulative output of millions of people with billions of dollars' worth of food, fuel & electrical energy, information exchange, across time and space, so that iterative continual development enabled computers to go from simple calculators to complex super computers that can simulate the Earth's climate & weather.

Thats how computational weather forecasting accomplished, data from the Earth's weather is collected into super computers modeling systems that then use stochastic predictive modeling to forecast future likely weather patterns with good time resolution now for 1-3 days into the future given 8MW super computers for such tasks operated by NOAA or the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. 

If you find computer hard to understand, just think about how numbers 1-9 can be represented with 0 to make all possible numbers. This abstraction or representation of actual information as arbitrary math symbols the start of how all computers work.

The CMOS logic in chips just elaborate fast ways to apply math like add, multiply, copy, duplicate, move, delete, save, store, divide, fuse, layer, array, just different logic gates setup into pattern processing configurations, which are further linked together with chip communication methods in registers & rows & columns, its like math & accounting with great precision at very high speed, across billions of transistors connected in the chip architecture to accomplish the data processing to provide the function the user looking to accomplish through the use of the computer or compute systems.

Many people access these systems daily with literally no idea of what is happening or how they work, hopelessly dependent on fragile information systems that only work if the power grid working. During a major solar CME induced electrical storm, many grid connected computers will be destroyed by high current & high voltage from the electrical storm that literally explodes fine wires in the logic boards, power supplies and other networking equipment. 

Stop to consider what you are doing with your smartphone! 

Your use of the device has more to do with you & the way your brain works than the dumb device itself. A smartphone cannot do anything without a human operator, like a gun. Its the people that make the difference, its how we choose to use these technologies that makes all the difference. Use your brain & wake up people! Need more sleep or a cup of coffee, then make it happen! 

The information you seek about anything probably easily accessible online if you only can think of what to look for with search queries or questions for Alexa or Siri or Ok Google on your android smartphone, iPhone or Echo devices respectively. 

Look up what other people are searching for online to learn about human ethics, morality & the actual things that people value to know about. I will give you a hint, a lot of it just entertainment. Few people are interested in understanding everything the way I did for most of my life. Thats how I am able to write postings like this.

I understand what my computer is doing and how it works because I have been obsessed with computers since I built my first desktop without instructions in 1994 as an 11-year-old boy with parts from a computer shop in Kent, Wa, that my dad took me to, so I could use money I made mowing lawns to buying desktop parts to build a desktop computer. All said I spent $1100 for the monitor, keyboard, mount, case, power supply, mainboard, CPU chip, GPU, disc drive, hard drive, power cables and connector cables. We used dial-up internet over the home phone line to access AOL using Netscape navigator in windows 95 so that I could read a web ring about high voltage tesla coils, gas lasers & other cool physics topics that I found interesting as a teenager, similar to the Stryropyro channel on YouTube ;)
