Smaller, lighter, less expensive to make and increasingly powerful enough, take my 2020 Yamaha MT03 with its 321cc offset twin engine from the R3 model. With 40 hp and 20 pound-feet of torque, it might be Yamaha's entry level bike, yet as Naked model, it oozes with style, while a top speed of 112 can be reached in 4th gear, it can hum along at 85 MPH for hours on freeway if not the most comfortable highway cruiser, add a butt cushion and taller windscreen if you're going to hit the interstate highways at high speeds :) I traded 2019 Honda Grom SF that I had super tuned to 12 HP, yet only 4 gears and that rust prone small chain drive, it was great around town, sounded fantastic with the full SS race pipe, O2 sensor and power commander, yet the small fuel tank gave it only about 2 hours of endurance, the Yamaha trumps it in every way, especially at speeds above 50 mph. I wanted a Honda CB500F probably better all around than the Yamaha MT03, especially for longer highway trips, but in 2020 covid19 was in full swing with supply chain problems, and that Grom had to go for something more practical, one late night online I found that i90 Motorsports in Issaquah had a Black on Black 2020 Yamaha MT03 for about $6000 all said out the door, we paid less giving up that 19 Grom SF for $1900, so $4100 after the trade, overall. Yet I was reading online about Yamaha MT03 sold in India that sells for $1650 USD when you convert Rupees to US dollars. Digging into the details, no emissions controls and carbureted, the cheaper model sold in India also has a top speed of 88 mph, makes 32 hp and 16 pound feet of torque, and gets worse fuel economy and has foul emissions of HC //
