 Standard American Diet (SAD) incredibly composed of almost 70% ultra processed foods made with any of many thousands of chemical food additives such as artificial colors linked to many disease pathologies, the NIH and WHO high quality peer reviewed evidence-based studies showing high UPF consumption linked to 32 different diseases in medicine and physiological science. 

If we go to the Aboriginal people of Australia, who hunted and ate bushmeat, seasonal fruits and vegetables, when westerners introduce processed foods, soda, alcohol, sugar, salt, bliss point engineered snack and junk and fast foods, the Aboriginal populations that adopted western diets also became sick with all the diseases associated with so called Diseases of Civilization that Plague the American broken private healthcare system with increasing costs and lack of access, some diabetic people dying of high blood sugar because they lack access to insulin, which has been partially corrected by companies that make and sell insulin or analogs of insulin, which is a fat storage hormone.

Effectively when you eat sugar, starch or carbohydrate this raises blood sugar levels, the body then signals the pancreas to release insulin which imports glucose into cells, in other words, eating too much sugar, starch or carbs fattening, in agriculture they fatten up animals by given them sugars, starches and carbs, while protein and fats are not fattening, noting that proteins are made of amino acids the building blocks of all parts of flesh in the body, and fat or lipids are a superior fuel for the body to make energy with, but fats are also used to make hormones and other regulatory molecules, including glial cells and neurotransmitters. 

Many people are depressed because they are not eating enough healthy Omega 3 fats and are eating 20X too much Omega 6 and Omega 9 from rape seed oil called Vegetable Oil confusingly, sold in clear plastic jugs, mild flavor, cheapest oils sold in stores, almost all restaurants cook with this cheap oil, which I would partially ban by applying a steep tax to increase the price so that butter, ghee, olive oil and healthier alternatives would sell for lower prices and sell better as a result, including tallow or animal fat, noting how bacon and eggs were a common breakfast food when America was a lot healthier before people started eating industrial breakfast cereals made of GMO grains flavored and colored with artificial chemicals.

Consider fasting a couple times a year, only water, more water, no food for a few days, look up True North in California about Science of Fasting, noting that fasting mentioned in the Bible 71 times. Jesus even saying "When you fast, pray also" that fasting and prayer are a potent healing combination.
