Microsleep & Vehicle Accidents also known as MSs

Many thousands of people are killed & 20X more are seriously injured by vehicle accidents worldwide every year. 

The driver or pilot or conductor of these vehicles regularly found to be tired, sleep deprived, and episodes of micro-sleep lasting only a few seconds was the determined to be the primary cause of loss of control when focused concentration & time sensitive decision making was essential to prevent an accident. 

At cruising speeds, cars, trains, airplanes, ships & many other vehicles are traveling fast enough that any loss of drive attention for every fractions of a second can cause an accident. MSs or micro-sleep episode last between 3 and 10 seconds, though it can take a few seconds more before the person becomes fully lucid & able to safely control the vehicle. 

During a micro sleep event, a person who is chronically sleep deprived, who has sleep debt, who is fatigued or tired or sleepy, has heavy eye lids with slower blinking that can be easily detected by Driver Drowsiness Detection systems using low res IR imaging of the drivers face, posture, eye lid blinking rate, eyelid blink speed, eyelid blink frequency, head motion, steering input analysis, lane position analysis & other ADAS driver assist technologies that make use of sensors & computer analytics to improve vehicle & occupant & road safety of other pedestrians, bicyclists & motorists. 

The automakers should be required to included Driver Drowsiness Detection on all MY2024 or model year 2024 vehicles sold to the public. All commercial vehicles of all kinds should be retrofitted with driver, captain, pilot, conductor Drowsiness Detection Technology. 

I was researching why LSD can make people feel better, when I found additional articles about REM sleep and dreaming, that gave rise to a deep dive research into sleep problems & sleep disorders, which then prompted further research into how sleep while waking causing vehicles accidents. Day dreaming while engaged in receptive boring tasks like driving the same route all the time, causes people to space out & loose track of what is happening while the vehicle is motor, which dangerous & causes accidents. 

Many people working with heavy equipment have accidents because of micro-sleep events. Surgeons make mistakes during surgery because of net getting enough quality sleep & experiencing a micro-sleep. 

Waking REM or sleepy dreaming brain modes while awake cause all sorts of hallucinations in people who have not taken psychedelic drugs like LSD. Many adults with dementia & Alzheimers have serotonin or dopamine deficits in the brains that causes complex confusion states between wakefulness & sleeping. This can be frightening or confusion to many adults when they wake up in the morning unaware of where they are or what is happing. Many nightmares for example are the dreaming manifestation of fears that people have, which can be trigger by the feet becoming cold while sleeping for example. 

In this analysis I am deliberately leaving out any information about faith, God, demons, demonic influence, or spiritual health, because ultimate when people do evil they are the ones choosing to do the evil, and have agency & free will to not do evil things to themselves or other people. Thus each person is totally accountable or responsible for their decision making, including when they go to bed, when they wake up, if they make healthy lifestyle choices that improve their decision making & safety when operating a vehicle. 

I take this very serious as a School Bus Driver educated by Bus Driver Training about how sleep loss results in significantly degraded executive function or brain problems that causes accidents, loss of focus, the inability to hold focus, to be more easily distracted, and to space out or have micro-sleep while engaged in dangerous time sensitive focus essential activities like operating a vehicle on public roads, flying aircraft or piloting ships or trains or trams. 

Sleep health important for physiological health, as NREM stages of sleep are essential for the body to engage in cell & organ repair processes. The deep wave sleep helps the body to engage in cell debris cleaning & other cell maintenance processes associated with multi-day water fasting, and one meal per day interval fasting. 

Known as Autophagy, it literally means cells eating themselves, such that very obese people actually start burning stored body fat while long duration fasting without food input calories. They start burning their body fat for metabolic energy. I have friends who did multi-day water fasting after watching the documentary film The Science Fasting who lost 10 to 80 lbs of stored body fat. 

The body only comes with a finite number of fat cells. People who are obese are in a state of inflammation caused by the obesity, as these fat cells have to swell up to store extra energy. The morbid obesity state therefore causes chronic inflammation & pain, and is not the consequence thereof. This means that overeating, excess large serving sizes, eating too close to bed time or right upon waking, this means that people are making bad food choices that causes weight gain & inflammation. 

Emotional trauma often causes people to eat as a coping mechanism, and even I am guilty of doing this by stayed thin & fit because of hyper activity & fitness exercises, even today at work I run between the hub & the bus, up the stairs, I fit fitness activity & motion or more movement into my daily activities. I also walk & hike & ride bicycles in fair weather during the spring, summer & autumn when it's warmer outside. I still go for walks in the winter rain & cold & snow, just less often & for shorter distances. I hate being cold, and especially hate being cold & wet at the same time. 

I am sure most other people can relate. I find being cold very painful & uncomfortable, just many car accidents cause people pain & discomfort. So we see how sleep loss causes many kinds of problems. Actually sleep depravation a major cause of obesity, because the lack of sleep causes hormone deficits that make people hungrier so that they seek out food in excess serving sizes & eat until they are tired as a result of the elevated blood glucose levels from eating so many carbs at once. 

My Advice

Go to bed earlier, turn the screens off & wind down. Pray & consider taking GABA or melatonin. A warm caffeine free tea can help calm the body down, as can a warm shower. Dim the lighting & do so deep breathing calming exercised by focusing on things you like, people you love, forgiveness or other healing positive thoughts that make you feel better. A heavy blanket, darker bedroom, deliberate noise generator to block sound pollution, a slightly cooler room 68 F ideal for sleeping. There are many ways to calm down, even closing eyes & telling yourself that everything is OK. 

Think of how you have made it this far in life & ways that you can improve your remaining time alive or how to make the world a better place for your children or their children by reducing pollution, improving fairness & equity in the worlds economies or at workplaces if you the owner, boss or manager. Many people can make the lives of other people better by making kind loving choices that sacrifice a tiny amount of profit for employees wellness. Society can choose to invest in education & healthcare to help people live happier educated lives with a vibrant economy & lot of opportunities. 

Know that you are at your brightest when you look at yourself & other people with eyes of love. Thats practicing loving compassionate respective dignity focused thinking. That means being a real leader by example showing other people the better ways of operating as a person. This means being a good father or mother to your children. 

This means being a honest decent fair person who reasonable & slow to anger. This means being actively forgiving of yourself & others when you or they make a mistake. Let go of ideas that do not matter & free your mind of toxic negative thinking. Focus instead as the Bible instructs on ideas that are pure, innocent, decent, of good repute, good ideas, healing thoughts, positive loving kindness & random acts of kindness with benevolence, generosity, confession, patience, concern, sincerity & a pure heart of love for God & his creation, the Earth, nature, other people & animals. 

This is why I am typing & sharing an article about how micro-sleep causes vehicle accidents. I want other people to be motivated to pursue healthy sleep lifestyles by understanding the sleep loss can causes depression, anxiety, weight gain & vehicle accidents. Getting more high quality sleep the #1 thing I would encourage you to do, and tell your friends, your children, your coworkers, teach other people the truth as you learn it to make the world a better place. 

I have spent much of my life reading, tens of thousands of hours, starting once I learned to read as a small boy. My parents had a printed copy of the Britannica Encyclopedia & it took me from age 8 to age 12 to read A-Z. 5 years late at age 17 I wanted to kill myself because of what I had been reading online about the world. The world is not fair place for all people, never was a fair place for everyone & does not seem likely to become a fair place for all human people & animals & nature at the same time. 

Human history is littered with examples of war, armed conflicts, crime & evil executed by whacked out sickos who harm & hurt other people senselessly. War is stupid, ignorant, foolish & without cause since diplomacy between rational people can resolve any conflict. At the end of every war such cease fires and peace agreements are reached between the previously waring states or countries, clans or tribes historically. 

Many modern people feel as though their minds are fractures or split or overloaded, often with chronic stress that elevated TNF-alpha such that drugs like HUMIRA ( Adalimumab )( monoclonal antibody ) very popular as once per week injections that are effectively TNF-alpha inhibitors. 

There are many MAB biologic therapeutics that block TNF-alpha reception or inhibit TNF-alpha from causing inflammation, joint pain, digestive problems, autoimmunity & other health problems. Chronic elevated stress increases TNF-alpha levels. 

So we know that chronic stress causes joint pain, digestive problems like IBS ( I suffer from IBS), and swollen inflamed joints. (My inner ankles, shoulders, & wrists) Chronic stress causes disturbances to the mind & brain which also cause anxiety, fear & depression. ( I struggle with bouts of suicidal ideation) 

Acute stress like exercises are healthy, but chronic stress toxic. Chronic stress causes sleep disorders that give rise to MSs vehicle accidents and many other painful & costly problems that make life worse for everyone. ( I wake up several times per night, wide awake, then have to choose to go back to bed to get enough sleep ) // 

Too much alcohol in evening reduces sleep quality, causing tiredness, soreness, feeling hung over or spaced out with mental fog the next day. Alcohol degraded mental performance in a dose dependent & time of dosing way such that more drinks in rapid succession cause dangerous intoxication that can be fatal via drunk driving accidents or alcohol poisoning. I cut back my alcohol consumption & stopped using cannabis entirely to improve my overall health. 

Too much caffeine during the day or near bed time can block adenosine receptors that normally active drowsiness to aid the transition between wakefulness & sleeping to help improve sleep onset. This is why caffeine known not as a stimulant, but a wakefulness promoting agent. 

So drink your coffee, espresso or caffeinated tea in the morning when you wake up, and moderate to enjoy less, more. Focus on the flavor, aroma, smell, taste, the experience of drinking your coffee, warm morning beverage :) I drink my coffee black with nothing added. I use dark roast coffee beans, hand grind them into a French Press then add hot water & brew for 5-9 minutes before dispensing the hot fresh flavorful coffee into a ceramic mug for enjoyment :) 

I try to be objectively transparent in my blog posting so you understand that I struggle too. I make bad choices & mistakes sometimes and do not have all the answers. Thats why I am always searching online to increase my understanding & sharing what I learn. 

This morning it was trying to understand why people are using LSD microdosing, while so many people are bad at driving or why there are so many automobile accents that are fatal or causing injuries & life long disabilities. 

I wanted to learn how emerging automotive ADAS features are helping drivers with Drowsiness Detection & other Safety System improvements to help the driver stay in the lane of travel like LKA or lane keep assist, CP or collision prevention with pedestrian detect, & many other emerging driver safety features like Back Up Cameras & radar enhanced active cruise control. I found my answers searching online & so can you.
