Brain Waves & Psychoacoustics

Did you know that certain music or sounds or binaural beats can influence your brains state, slowing down or speeding up your mental processing frequency, but you have to use headphones to get the best effect.

The neuron science of how music affects the brain shows that when people listen to tones, frequencies of music that they genuinely enjoy, the brain gets "high" with neurotransmitter release of endogenous (made by the body) signaling molecules & exhibits remarkable 3D patterns of thought that resemble the psychedelic experiences encountered when people take LSD or psilocybin mushrooms. Without drugs & very low cost streaming with Pandora or music on YouTube, you can take your brain & mind into an audio fantasy of enjoyment thats healing & restorative, encouraging, uplifting, enjoyable, bliss inducing or amazing to experience!

Liquid Mind by Chuck Wild the genius audio engineer & musician that I found on Pandora internet radio on my smartphone & computer. I also like Chicane & Blank & Jones, Enya, the Piano Guys, Paul Cardall, and many others like film scores by Hans Zimmer, or cool music by Phutureprimative or Deuter or Joey Fehrenbach.

I have an EDM pleasure bias having been raised & practiced as a drummer growing up, all the way through 12th grade or high school. I even formed a drum & guitar band with my fired Clint Stonich during our senior year at Newport High School in Bellevue Wa, USA; we mostly covered songs by his favorite band "The Deftness"! I did percussion ensemble, band, orchestra, marching band, concerts & every music related activity I could participate with. I like rock, rap, EDM, tech, dubstep, new-age, classic rock, classical, Neo-classical, hard rock, electronic, hybrid music genres & many other progressive, relaxing, uplifting, encouraging, emotional & moving songs & music. I love music!

When I have periods of feeling down or depressed I find that listening to more music really helps me feel better & helps to pick up my emotions & give me more energy. I enjoy listening easily as background music while writing these blog postings for example. I have collection of different wires & wireless headphones & earbuds & all my compute devices & radios can play music on speakers. I am listening to Pandora right now while typing this on my 19 iMac, the last Intel chipset iMac before the M1 version launched. More specifically this machine is a iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019) version that Meg & I purchased, with her identical machine, on a steep discount at Costco about 2 years ago. The 3 GHz 6-core Intel Core i5 has great performance paired with the 8 GB 2667 Mhz DDR4 memory & Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB graphics processor that can pump STEAM games like CS:GO with great fluidity & decent frame rates with maximum graphics settings turned up!

I started listening to radio music with a small cheap AA (LR6 alkaline) battery powered portable radio into wired earbuds when I was in elementary school riding the bus & continued doing this all throughout middle & high school. I got a Diamond 8mb RIO MP3 player in high school & used a file sharing network to download MP3 songs over the internet. Later in college I got a Flash Card memory MP3 player with a 64MB flash card- I forget the brand, its was a Canadian electronics company & was made in Hong Kong.

It was Napster music file downloads fueling my MP3 listening experiences back then! Another few MP3 players like the AAA alkaline battery powered tiny Samsung YEPP 512GB YP-T6 that gave way to an sealed non user replaceable LiPo powered 2nd gen. iPod nano, then a tiny black anodize aluminum iPod shuffle, then a 2nd gen. iPod touch, then iPod touch 4th gen that I still use over the DICE interface in my 2005 Toyota Prius to listen to iTunes music over CD Changer function in the MID OEM radio system, as recently as this morning Oct 9th 2022 when I was driving my sister & her boyfriend to Sea-Tac airport at 6:45 am ^^ \/

In 2013 got my first smartphone called a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, then Jaeson gave me Alicia's Galaxy Note 3, then a Kyocera Brigadier, then an iPhone SE, now iPhone SE2. Seems that iPod touch really did work as a training wheel to become an iPhone owner operator. I mostly stream music now, but have a large collection of CD's & a moderately file size collection of iTune musics AAC files slightly superior to high bit rate MP3 in audio quality. I mostly listen with Pandora now, but sometimes use YouTube to listen to music! Pandora helps me discover new artists & songs that I end up enjoying. Sometimes after listening to the same song for many cycles it becomes less enjoyable or overplayed, something where your brain can become bored with the lack of novelty of a pre known stimuli or pattern. Some songs will be interesting to listen to, for your entire life, like Space Oddity by David Bowie. https://youtu.be/iYYRH4apXDo

Binaural beats became familiar back in 2003 on my home built Ubuntu Linux desktop. I would use a binaural audio generator program to listen via over-ear headphones, to enhance study focus & relaxation while I was in college earning a BS of Environmental Science, & used music as a stress coping crutch as a healthy vice, drinking copious amounts of neat unsweetened loose green tea brewed in any of several different tea brewing devices I have operated over the years. My final & current tea brewing method a stainless steel laser drilled & laser welding brewing basket that I place in a ceramic mug with several grams of loose leaf tea, into which water of 80 C or 175 F then added for brewing for at least 3 minutes, often much longer until the temperatures drops to 54 C or around 130 F, warm hot mouth safe temperatures that will not scald or damage mouth or throat cells like burning or boiling hot drinks, which if consumed extra hot can increase the risks of developing oral cancers. When the mouth cells are scaled or thermally denatured by hot drinks, the cells die off & have to be replaced more often, this thus statistically increases the cell turnover rate which increases the odds of something going wrong during your natural lifespan.

Enjoyment or appreciation or great fullness, experience, enchanté friends, enjoy life while your alive, its amazing & precious & special to be alive, unlike anything else as far as anyone knows! Who knows for sure, perhaps the afterlife even better, I sure hope so! Praise be to God!

Turn on some good music & rock out or relax & try to make the best of each day, of every passing moment, by yourself or with people that you love! Music makes movies more dynamic! Music adds a score to life. I regularly hear songs playing in my head without any external stimulus. I wake up in the morning with music playing in my mind. I find myself driving & riding my motorcycle with music playing in my brain, in my mind, that I enjoy, sing along with, drum box along with verbally, or move my limbs in coordination with // I try to "Get into it" when listening, the zone, relaxed, the mental clutch pressed in, connected to the songs & disconnected from the world, in the alpha enjoyment state of mind, really pleasurable * enjoyable! I am greatly appreciative of all the songs that musicians create & share on different platforms & media types!
