The Lost Generation of Japan, loneliness epidemic, it seems stuck in the late 90s in terms of development, maintained well, repaired, very clean, very well kept up, but the aging population of Japan spells disaster if no children are born soon.
This seems odd given the talks about 8.5 billion people worldwide, a meteoric rise in human population worldwide since the 1960's, but in Japan life costs are so high that many young couples able to have children choose not to since doing so unaffordable. In other words having children in Japan a luxury that only very wealthy young couples can actually afford.
