Ought, Should, You Know Right From Wrong

99% of adults of a sound mind, the vast majority of people know basic ethics of right & wrong behaviors, social accountability to not hurt other people, to not commit adultery, to not covet false idols, to not kill, to not betray, to only do good things & never do bad things; basic human morality of knowing "right" from "wrong"

So then you might wonder how can the CCP in the PRC commit so many gross acts of violating human rights, placing progress of the economy over the sanctity of human life; causing ecosystem destruction, coal fires, industrial accidents, & other negative fallout in the name of making their economy wealthier when doing so causes more harm, more pain & suffering, ruining Honk & Taiwan in a way so significant that people in both locals have been protesting in the streets about it for decades. Its not just my personal opinion that the CCP an evil organization, guilty of committing many different violations of human rights observed in nearly every other country! NATO & the UN both share this opinion about the CCP in the PRC. Given the scope of what's happening in the Ukraine because of what Russia is doing, serious concerns exist about how this might encourage China to do the wrong things that could kick off WWIII or world war three, especially if Russia utilizes nuclear weapons in the Ukraine.

I believe that greed is evil! That includes doing something like the executives & accountants at a chemical company ordering the use of a toxic solvent that is slightly cheaper than a non-toxic or eco-safe solvent, full well knowing that the use of this cheaper toxic solvent will hurt or harm the employees who work with this toxic solvent by degrading their health by causing preventable diseases & will likely result in downstream pollution emission that are toxic to the air, water, soil & food of other people in a long term cumulative way because of the way pollutants tend to persist in environments.

You cannot become an ethical person by intending to, you already know right from wrong & good from evil, so you either choose to do the right thing or you do not.

You cannot love someone by intending on loving them, you either love the other person or you do not. If you pretend to love someone, then you are setting up reasons for conceit & discomfort when the truth becomes known & you know that the real truth will eventually surface or become known by the other person.

The road to hell paved with good intentions. You cannot become a good person by trying to be good, just as you cannot become a good person by doing nothing. You already know how to be a good person, what you should & should not do. Everyone internalizes these social learnings when growing up around other people of a sound mind, other reasonable adults, their parents or relatives, people in their community.

People who throw trash out the window of their car or allow their dog to poop without picking up after it, when the dog poops where other people normally walk, this person knows that this will likely result in someone getting dog poop on their feet or shoes, that such will waste that persons time cleaning the poop off their feet or shoes, but fails to act in a way that many communities communicate clearly with signage, email notifications, laws, & other measures that people know, to using bags to pick up dog poop & place in a trash or special dog waste receptacle.

Where I live in America there are street signs in big high contrast text that explain "$1000 fine for littering" yet people still throw trash out their vehicle windows, though illegal & social inconsiderate to treat the world around ones self as a trash receptacle, especially wrong since a lot of what I see being littered around roadways are recyclable plastic bottles, cans & food containers made of recyclable plastics that could be easily recycled in the blue recycling containers that every business & apartment complex & most homes have as a separate bin for mixed recycling of paper, plastic, metals, glass etc

I have noticed people being outwardly inconsiderate & rude since I was 4 years old. That means that a small child can understand the basic logic of social accountability. It also means that other adults are so selfish that they fail to treat other people with dignity & respect by being inconsiderate & rude. I continue to notice this in public places, but try to only show other people love & kindness, that includes not saying anything or being silent when God puts that on my heart. Saying the right thing at the wrong time or to the wrong person can cause a problem.

What we say is just as important as who we are saying it to & when & where it is being said. I made some critical mistakes as a School Bus Driver by saying things about political topics to a driver I was friends with in the Staff Lounge area where other drivers were offended by what they overheard me saying & filed a complaint to management. It was near the end of the school year & I chose to resign over the issue, having FMLA related problems in my personal life that were of pressing concern. All of this to say that while my science related & analytical comments about public office were reasonable in a one to one conversation outside of a workplace, it was wrong of me to talk about politics at work in the staff lounge area where other people could easily overhear what I was saying. This is called situational context & situational awareness, being aware of whats happening around you that gives context to what is appropriate. Are you at school, at church, in the public eye, a leader, because if you are being examined by others you are setting an example regardless of your intentions. People see what you are doing & hear what you are saying & everyone is different, so you have to be careful not to offend or upset other people by knowing your audience. This can be nuanced, culturally specific & can become easily misinterpreted unlike major moral offenses that are obvious to most people. I never did anything to deliberately upset, offend or make anyone else feel bad, it was all just a misunderstanding of a spoken sentence fragment taken out of context.

Nearly all world religions, noting that more than 90% of people alive claim to believe in God, teach basic moral lessons about appropriate personal conduct, social accountability, right from wrong & ethical principles about correct conduct, honorable speech, treating other people with dignity & respect & being tolerant, fair, reasonable, balanced, not quick to offense, never judging, offering help to other people as edification, counseling, mentoring, financial blessing, help with time & effort, making the world a better place with every interaction, in any way that you can imagine, always trying to be the best you can in every way that you live, aspiring to become excellent in all ways! I learned a lot about what not to say to other people, when not to speak or not say anything. Sometimes silence & listening more are the best move. You can learn a lot by listening to other people. Everyone can contribute in one way or another & most people have different skills & knowledge such that we are stronger as people when we work together in teams that communicate effectively.

Communication breakdown kills a lot of relationships & causes problems in a lot of workplaces. Breakdowns in communications cause division in Churches & places of worship, in teams, in sports, in medicine, in marketing & advertising, in politics & economics, sometimes the good word gets distorted by disinformation or misinformation unintentionally because of confusion that abounds on a lot of topics, like the spherical shape of the Earth, Moon or Sun being called into question by confused people who claim that the Earth is flat without offering any credible explanation of what is on the other side of this flat earth disk, where the edge of the disk is, why no one has reached the edge exploring or what is on the other side; how time zone works, or how space satellites work, why ships disappear into the horizon when they sail away from the shore, or any other logical argument to explain their flat earth model in a framework of empirical science that can be tested & verified by others while NASA & the ESA have produced so much scientific evidence (video, image, space rocks returned, rocket launched in public space; thats verifiably true & axiomatically factual about the 3D spherical shape of the Earth, other planets & stars in the universe, about the Milky Way galaxy & other galaxies, about celestial orbits, gravitation fields, spacetime, dark matter & dark energy.

Nonetheless, much remains to be learned in space science, astronomy, & the search for other intelligent life in the universe. Sadly, no one has all the answers & it seems likely that no one ever will. At the same time I am glad that God has all the answers. Always alive, knowing everything & of unmatched power, existing in higher dimensional space & unencombered by a physical body, God exists in a mysterious persistent way that has caused human people to worship God all throughout history. Even with broad secularization pervading most aspects of society, God is still worshiped & glorified justly. No one can prove that God exists & no can prove that God does not exist. You can choose to have faith & believe in God & most people do! I am not telling other people what to believe, only sharing my personal beliefs.

This is a blog after all, these articles I post are my expressed personal opinion based on thinking about a lot of different things. I am highly educated & continue to educate myself online. I try to know as much as I can to make informed choices. One of the greatest learnings being frugality, what not to buy, to save money, to be fiscally accountable, to invest in ways that multiply money passively generating income 24/7. This is why markets are the most effective means for producing shared wealth & prosperity.

This is also who Crony Capitalism riddled with corruption, waste & inefficiency. Innovation stifled by intellectual crime, intellectual theft, illegal back room deals, unethical law creation, government contracts that comprise the majority of a specific businesses revenue, gives rise to lobbying by Amazon.com for example, who employ 1,151 lobbyists in Washington DC. As the largest e-commerce platform, you have wonder why they have so many lobbyists, but you know that those people are there to bribe senators & congressmen into passing laws & measures that are to Amazons benefit. This inexorably gives rise to a lack of representation for the general public or the people who voted these corrupt people into public office. It is the moral & ethical failure of those people in public office that causes widespread public disapproval of government, even in America.

Politics are consider a hot topic, not to be discussed at work because of how polarizing some of the topics are, topics about abortion, gun rights, GLBTA topics, & other topics that people hold divergent views about. People are more socially away & more sensitive or reactive now, such that if you say one wrong thing, they can become upset to an unreasonable extent. This "walking on egg shells" concept very prevalent in Japan, as its considered shameful & dishonorable to engage in any outwardly rude behavior or verbal output. Japan enforces social accountability with a shame based society that rejects people who do not conform to the social norms in Japan. The social norms in America have been changing because of increasing inclusivity & acceptable of minority groups that were previously less widely accepted. In a tongue & cheek sort of way, the "pendulum swings in both directions" referring to how society tends of have oscillating trends toward liberal or conservative extremes, while the vast majority of people tend to be somewhere in the middle ideologically.

I thought about writing this OPED article about "Being in the Middle" since extremes are the result of obsession over topics of limited value that will be greatly forgotten in the future as the social & cultural dimensions of society adapt to solutions & patterns that fit most peoples lives most effectively in a continually changing sort of adaptive way over time. We can summarize the entire post here by stating the following truism; Do Not Be Evil! // Treat other people & animals & nature with reverent dignity & respect.

Human life is precious & special & worth defending. We are all running out of time & everyone depends on everyone else; we are all in this life together & everything works better when we work together with fairness & equality, accepting that ALL people deserve basic human rights, that we have a social accountability to one another not to pollute the biosphere of Earth with toxic emission that cause acid rain, climate change to get worse faster & air pollution toxic to other peoples lung & brain cells. This is why tetraethyl lead was removed from gasoline, because the tailpipe emissions from vehicle burning leaded fuels contained lead, toxic to peoples brain cells, causing a statistically significant decline in average IQ. Science gives real data to make informed public policy changes to update laws & measure designed to protect the general public & nature from preventable harm!

We make mistakes & fail, learn from "crash testing" & analysis, update the way we do things, then integrate the learning into new better ways of operating. Everything can be improved & nothing is impossible. When you fail, get back up again, consider why you failed, make need changes, try again, if you fail, start over, make additional changes, try again & never give up. The difference between a winner & a loser is that the winner never stops trying. I want you to keep trying until you die, to never give up, give in, to never fold on your ethics or morality, to always be the best version of you! Go do it, be that best version of yourself! Don't try, just do it! Make it happen!

You do not have to tell other people about it, you can be a leader by example! Over time, people seeing you excel will take notice naturally, might ask you about it, then you can given them testimony about whats makes the difference that helped you elevate where other people regularly fail. For me, that elevation comes through faith in Christ Jesus & God as a Christian. Consider "Blaise Pascal's Wager" a statistical argument for why faith in God a logical choice. Perhaps faith teaches people what they ought or should do, to know right from wrong. Thinking about it!
