Gun crimes are a mental illness epidemic problems from a lack of affordable access to mental health services & healthcare for mental wellness & wellbeing, counseling or psychology or psychiatry. I believe school shootings & mass murders are committed by psychopath sicko's who should have been red flagged as off kilter or insane or unstable or whacked out / years ago!
People kill people, not guns. Family of the inventor of the AR15 said that he would be "horrified to see that his creation was being used in mass shootings & school shooting tragedies by deranged sicko's whacked out & in desperate need of incarceration & or mental health services!
People hurt each other with sharp objects, knives, pens, pencils, utensils, blunt objects, batts, rods, polls, sticks, handles, shanks, virtually any object can be turned into a weapon. Guns unlike most other objects, were designed to be used as weapons, even though people also shoot guns for sport & for leisure & hunting and other non violent non criminal & non war based activities during peaceful times without causing personal injury or harm, even children are safe with guns if they are being supervised by adults trained in safe firearm handling & the children have been instructed & educated with interactive, verbal & written instruction specifically about safe handling of handguns, loading & unloading, gun safety, gun safety awareness, basic gun operation, gun mechanical principles, gun cleaning & how to safety store & transport guns. We give small children toy guns & cap guns & airlift guns & BB & pellet guns, to play with "Don't Shoot Your Eye Out" / Gun crimes are problem with the people committing the crimes, the guns are just the tools or objects they used to harm other people. The guns are not the problem, its the people, whacked out sickos who use guns to hurt other people!
People use words to hurt other people. Look at social media postings - I don't even want to say anything else other than yuck, brain damaging yuck! Maybe much more dangerous in a subtle long term way than basic simple guns & bullets.
There are more guns that people in America, but unlike people guns do not have free will or agency or a moral obligation to exert personal accountability! I believe the key to reducing gun violence in America comes down to a combination of new 2022 common sense gun laws, basic gun safety training everyone possible & dealing with the mental healthcare epidemic plaguing America.
Guns are inanimate objects. You can place a gun on the ground & yell at it continually, it will do nothing on its own, other than just sit there as a dead mechanical object, unable to do anything on its own, unless a person picks up the gun & uses their hands & brains to use the gun for either good or bad ends.
I have many guns & have never used any of them to harm an animal or another person or for anything other than fun target practice shooting & leisure shooting. I got my first gun when I was 10, a 22 cal 10 shot slide load semi-automatic rifle.
I carry an EDC weapons that holds 19 rounds of 9mm NATO these days & have a CPL where I live, or legal license to conceal carry my self protection method. I also carry a folding tactical knife which is mostly used to open online order boxes or to cut, fix, repair or modify any number of different things as a general purpose tool on the fly on the seat of my plants on the go as I require.
I have a limbic burn in automatic find in the dark rapid withdraw action for this knife & my EDC piece. This makes me a gun zealot by some peoples standards. I own an AR15 too & its my favorite weapon because of how well it works, its build quality, precision, reliability, sturdy construction, exceptional handling & design / completely impractical to EDC carry- to heavy & large & cumbersome & loud to use for fun // more a trophy object of function // its amazing! I love guns & especially Glock handguns. I feel inspired to EDC because I watch the evening news & see the lawless crime & public shootings happening & do not want to become a victim or allow harm to come to me or anyone nearby via action or inaction & like to be prepared & ready to stop a mad man with force, just like the police, when & where the police cannot be there to help in time. Thats my ideology about guns!
Crime means when one person wrongs another person & its just wrong in all ways! Laws do not all make sense & common sense varies from person to person, but laws agains rape & murder are very clear & nearly universally agreed upon. In this context, war seems like a crime to me, & war crimes are a very real thing. Look at what the Ukraine experiencing as a result of the military assault from Russia, still ongoing as of early June 2022 as I am writing this!
Guns are similar to piston engines, both utilizing the chemical energy of a fuel or propellent, chemical reactions that create hot pressurize expanding gasses that in the case of the engine pushes the pistons down so that via the wrist pin & connecting rod the piston can turn the crankshaft & creation toque that through a transmission ends up turning the wheels & tires to push or pull the wheeled vehicle down the road. When a person pedals a bicycles, food energy, metabolized by the human body through respiration & muscle power, cranks the pedals, which via gears & chain ends up applying torque to spin the rear wheel & propel the bicycle & rider.
In guns with bullets, the bullet contains a primer with an explosive. A hammer or pin inside the gun, strikes the front metallic surface of the primer, compressing the primer explosive, a pressure sensitive explosive like mercury fulminate, which ejects hot expanding gasses into the smokeless nitrocellulose powder inside the bullet case, where around 50,000 psi of pressure generated to shove the bullet out of the bullet case & down the barrel of the gun with explosive velocity of thousands of feet per minute. Most commercial bullets are made with a brass case & a copper coated lead bullet. This combination chosen for corrosion resistances & because of the high density & low cost of the lead bullet. The mostly lead bullet also soft, so the spiral riffling inside the barrel of the gun can impart stabilization spin as the bullet projectile transverses through the barrel & exits into the world. After the bullet leaves the gun, all of the underutilized gasses produced by the chemical combustion reaction of the the bullet powder fuel exit as a cloud of lead contaminated dusty air pollution that can harm the lungs & nose & eyes & throat of the person firing the weapon.
The high speed high pressure deflagration reaction of the bullets powder & supersonic travel of the bullet, produces very loud, high sound pressure levels of up to 190 decibels, enough to cause ear bleed level damage & instant life long loss of hearing sensitive or hearing damage if the operator of the gun fails to utilize in ear sound protection plugs, over ear sound protection or a combination of those or of sound canceling smart headsets or similar technology. Bang, bang, bang, ears ringing, if a gun fired indoors the deafening loud pulse sound emissions are unmistakable. From further away, gun fire might be easily confused with firecrackers or similar pulse sound emissions of "Cracking or Banging" sounds, typically of an outdoor shooting range observed audio emissions as detected in nearby locals. The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, like all constitutional amendments, not unlimited & has never been so, as president Joe Biden recently pointed out during his talk about an urgent need to pass sensible balanced gun control measures, like raising the buying age requirement for purchasing assault rifles from 18 to 21, something I agree with as a practical law. He also went on to say that no one is seriously talking about taking any American's guns away from them. I have friends who have more guns than they could ever make good use of & just as many cars & trucks & SUV's ^ actually am Sat June 4th 2022 ran into one of these friends on the side of the road fixing a broken U-bolt on his trailer, or at least starting the process witch the wheel of that axel off & his wife in their blue VW SUV's was just about to drive him to an automobile parts store to get the required stuff to fix the issue DIY, he happens to be the same guy, Mike, who talked me into becoming a school bus driver in the first place. I had to resign from that job just 2 weeks before summer break because I was guilty of talking with the middle school & high school students on my bus about gun rights, my faith in Christ Jesus & other off limit topics - never with any ill intent on my part. I never meant to offend, harm, hurt or upset anyone. I did not commit any crimes & never threatened anyone & never did anything truly wrong, I just made a serious of conversational mistakes answering student questions with answers that were too long that touched on "off limit" topics, in a blunt crass way including joking about some of the topics to bring levity to the harder topics - in so doing breaking additional rules. It was possible the best learning lesson of my life & I am changed for the better having failed in these ways & having been edified by management about what exactly I said that got me in hot water & why its not ok to have those kinds of NEWS related discussion about current events, science, medicine & physiology & nature & faith & philosophy with students as an adult, distinctions that I did not make naturally since I have no ill intent in my heart & usually tell people with a PSA or public service announcement kind of teaching spirit or intent to edify & inform others, but made some judgement calls that crossed the line. For example, the main problem, when I was quoting scripture from the New Testament, word by word, line by line, into sections verbatim as I am now reading it daily every morning to memorize, meditate & reflect on the Holy Word for inner positive transformation of my mind, body, soul & spirit - for deep inner healing of past wounds & to help me forgive myself of failures & others of wrongs committed against me. In the Holy Name of Christ Jesus I forgive all who have trespassed me & forgive myself for my failures & mistakes & accept the undeserved Grace & Favor of God's forgives in the Holy Name of Christ Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit that now dwells peacefully in my body, mind, soul & spirit!
Guns do not kill people, people kill people. You cannot know something you do not know, until you know it. No one is perfect, & no one has all the answers. We are all in this life together & the world would be a much nicer place if we helped each other more in more ways more of the time!
I am saddened deeply by school shootings & mass murders committed with high volume clips of bullets in semi-automatic weapons. For more than 90 years the US government has had strict regulations on fully automatic weapons or machine guns. An adult US citizen can obtain special permits, special registrations, pay a special tax stamp & jump through other loop holes if they are determined to get a machine gun- at high cost in both capital & time because of all of the restrictions & laws regulating access to such dangerous versions of assault rifles that in civilian trim, like the consumer AK47 or AR15, are only single fire or semi-automatic, selectable via a thumb switch. Military versions of these weapons have a 3 round bust mode & fully automatic modes via a receiver with more functions & more selectable functions from that fire mode thumb switch selector. Its illegal to modify an gun with automatic functions without special permits from the ATF & FBI & Federal Government - they need to have you on file & know a lot about you & you have to jump through a lot of relations restrictions to obtain the needed legal permits to own or posses or operate a machine gun. Given ammunition prices being higher than historically normal & the ability of an an automatic weapon to discharge 900 rounds per minute, operating such a weapon very costly & super loud! Brass gets thrown everywhere as the bullet casing are ejected at a fast rate from automatic weapons, metal raining down to the side as bullets rain out of the barrel at the target.
Lead free bullets & composite case bullets & new eco-friendly primers & bullet powders are being developed & sold as of 2022. These are lower mass, lower energy, less toxic, less dangerous & better for consumer sport shooters, hunters & others who do not need the peak stopping power of law enforcement officers or military persons. An EDC weapon with polymer rounds weighs less & less of a burden to carry as a result. When shooting a handgun though, lower mass can make a sharper kickback thats harder on the hand & wrist of the shooter. My smallest most compact 9mm kicks much harder than its larger heavier older & more cumbersome sibling. A major win for lead free polymer rounds, they are more water resistant & have better corrosion resistance. The polymer case can be optimized to act as a lubricant in the barrel seat where the bullet rests before getting struck by the primer as the locking sear engaging to lock the bullet into the chamber, to contain the expanding chemical reaction gassed & direct them to create a pressure wave behind the bullet to drive it across the spin inducing riffling & down the barrel towards the world outside, after the human operator of that gun utilizes their free will & volition to pull the trigger - thus nearly all gun crimes are a human problem or problem with the person misusing the gun for illegal means. That makes school shootings & mass shootings a mental healthcare problems, not a gun control issues, though some improved common sense laws should be adopted immediately to address the epidemic of gun crimes in America, especially given how many guns there are in America, how popular guns are in America, how easy it is for nearly anyone to get a gun in America. Speaking of easy to get guns, what about gun show loopholes ?
Criminals that want a gun, cannot legally obtain one, as their FBI background check fails & their active felonies preclude or restrict them from legally owning guns. They can buy guns for cash at crooked pawn shops, flee markets, & from shady individuals, or black market retailers, or other criminals for cash or illicit drug exchange. Frequently, illegal activity like unregulated prostitution, illegal drugs & illegal guns seem to happen together like a comorbidity in disease pathology. Speaking of disease, criminals who engage crimes with victims, harming & hurting other people, must have mental disease or they must be mentally ill to harm others without moral or ethical concern. A sane, reasonable person would never harm or hurt someone else with a gun, a knife, or any other dangerous object or substance, by any means, with their vehicle or any other way. We are called by law of the state, by faith & by social awareness to treat other people with dignity & respect & to observe other persons right to liberty & justice & freedom (in America) & many other nations.
Guns are hazardous to anyone not trained in the safe use of firearms. I believe, like the state of Israel, that all citizens should be educated in basic gun safety in America, especially given the pervasive nearly ubiquitous access to guns or abundance of guns everywhere in America, gun violence, gun crimes & accidental gun shootings committed by children who were not properly supervised & not properly train in gun safety education, practices & codes of conduct to insure safety & to reduce the odd's of gun accidents happening.
