$10 billions USD James Webb Space Telescope

42 grams of gold coated as a super thin IR reflecting tarnish resistant front surface of a 6.5 m mirror made of 18 precision machined hexagonal beryllium segments with active position & focus adjustment motors. As of early June 2022 the JWST being calibrated to get all the mirrors lined up with the other optics & tune the system so that it can pick up just a single photon per second of weak IR radiation from the earliest moments of the universe formation, some 13.8 billion years ago.

Ten billion united states dollars spent over 25 years during its development, production, manufacturing, testing, deployment & ongoing operations - some people working on JWST have spent their entire working career as engineers or scientists developing the space telescope designed to replace the early 1990s Hubble Space Telescope.

Never been a more exciting time to be an aerospace enthusiast. Aerospace produces some of the most exceptional & coolest technologies. Sadly, porting those to consumer objects & functional devices like appliances or vehicles, often either not feasible or takes decades of added cost optimization & manufacturing engineering to make a low cost high volume version of the high cost low volume aerospace precursor technology.

Applied science & technology produces amazing improvements & innovations that make life better. Consider fresh water scarcity vs desalination of sea water & water purification technology in a world filled with microplastics & solid, liquid & gas pollutants of many kinds. Ever wonder where the tread on your vehicle tires disappears into ? The environments, the road surface slowly grinds away the tire treat producing volcanized sulfur rich rubber dust that blows around in the air, sticks to the road, washes away into streams, rivers, lakes & oceans- entering the food web & making its way back into our bodies, like microplastics. We can engineer how to capture microplastics from nature, capture air pollutants like NOX or CO2 & gain control over climate change on Earth. We can solve all problems & build a clean energy + decarbonized + energy storage enhanced renewable & smart nuclear electrified future with battery & capacitor electric vehicles & more cool technologies!

The International Space Station & similar collaborations prove that humans can accomplish much when we work together peacefully to solve problems & make things happen to everyone's mutual benefit, for the benefit of all people, now & in the future. We can reduce pollution emissions & help clean up environments to protect nature from human development externalities like tail pipe emission air pollution that's toxic to animal including human lung cells!

Technology cool in its own right. Consider the wearable information jewelry that people wear like Apple Watches or Samsung Gear or Fitbit's or Garmin Fenix 7X or similar // Over the last 70 years, computers went from huge mainframe systems owned by large corporations & universities that run on megawatts of power (think supercomputers or internet server racks & server rooms with hundreds of thousands of racks to serve up Twitter or Facebook or Google Search or Amazon.com or Ebay or Alibaba or similar huge online stores or amazing information sources like Wikipedia the online peer edited global encyclopedia that is constantly updated with new information - very much unlike a printed encyclopedia volume. E-books like Kindle Paperwhite - it takes about 20 e-book's of reading on a kindle before the carbon footprint equal to a similar number of printed books - if you read more than 20 books on your e-book, then it will consume less resources than printing the same number of books.

I publish these postings on blogger because it gives me the freedom to write about anything & share my thinking with other people in English the most popular language via ESL programs worldwide! English the default language of information exchange in many sectors where employee's from all around the world are communicating in emails with one another, science, aviation, engineering, medicine, logistics, commerce, e-commerce, logistics, shipping, cargo transport, naval & aircraft communications, TV, internet, dual language signage & more - you can find English writing, text & language use all around the world because the Golden Era of British Expansion in the 1800's saw English language spreading globally!

Human minds are connecting in increasingly novel emergent ways with smartphones & mobile high-speed internet or broadband internet over LTE or 5GNR - even smartwatches can have their own mobile data connections without a smartphone as a Bluetooth bridge or portable electronic ecosystem. Aura smart-rings mean that fitness tracking & other health metrics can be collected from a finger mounted electronic enhanced ring // take the NASA website sharing powerful images from outerspace as the best telescope an individual person can gain access too. The web extends human vision into nearly every facet of life, with news, wealther, sports, entertainment, information & more available 24/7 as long as the internet & electrical power online. Many people in developing countries have solar PV panels plugged into energy storage batteries & power inverters & charge controls to make a distributed rooftop energy system with energy independence not dependent on a power grid for electricity - the sunlight converted to DC & AC & DC for running appliances & information devices like smartphones - wireless taking off in poorer countries because the government never invested in fiber optical or copper wire communications networks in the ground - even the towers in these nations connect to each other & to com satellites in space orbiting the Earth - wireless (wireless) communication systems using electromagnetic radiation signals that move at the speed of light through the atmosphere of Earth & even better in the vacuum of outer space.

We are so overdeveloped that space debris & ocean plastics are major pollution problems. We are so overdependent on fossil fuels that air pollution from combusting carbon now a major driver of climate change & a huge global public health problems since air pollutants are toxic to human & animal lung cells & brain cells & kidney & liver cells & skin & eye cells & other organs & systems of the body. The link between pollution exposure & diseases well established in medical literature & nearly all doctors understand that pollutants caused preventable diseases - the main problem that crude oil & coal were easy energy sources or fuels with tremendous net energy returns on investments or highly profitable to use to make energy, in engines & thermal powerplants not using fission of elements as the fuel cycle, like all of those new coal power electrical generating plants in China, the world's biggest Manufactuing country
