This is the exact E-Bike that Meg & I ordered with the Mothers Day sale price back then, & I have been test riding on the very steep hills nearby in 20 min burst rides without stoping & I can go 18 MPH up very steep hills pedaling flat out in L4 PAS but reduce to PAS 3 and 2 on the less steep portions to not overheat the battery or motor or 20 amp PWR controller or wiring or electronics, since the system can pump out 55nm torque and 1000 watts peak power from the brushless rear hub motor with a 1x7 Shimano gear train with 11-28 freewheel able to go 30 MPH with a good input cadence with L5 PAS unlocked Class 3 mode! Affordable practical e-bike technology can liberate people from using a car single passenger for just getting A to B & back commuting, able to take shorter bike path routes away from dangerous traffic or go the longer safer way to avoid riding in traffic with dangerous drivers in heavy metal cars or automobiles.
To really get more car driving people out of their cars to reduce air pollution, traffic congestion and parking problems, velomobiles or bicycle cars that are 6X smaller than a Toyota Corolla, that have a full safety enclosure with climate controls, crush zones, roller over protection, rain protection, warming, cooling, air filtering, cargo capacity, and the ability to get you too & from while keeping you cool or warm & dry the whole time need to be cheaper and widely available like traditional bicycles without a huge price delta or price premium. The same price paradox plague quality recumbent bicycles that cost three thousands or more, where you get a really nice bicycle for around one thousand.
A traditional exposed bicycle more intense in terms of getting wet in rain, super hot in direct sun, and so forth breathing & being exposure to unfiltered tailpipe emissions or air pollution emitted by commonly used fossil fueled vehicles burning gasoline and diesel in ICE or internal combustion engines as the prime mover or energy source of a typical widely sold automobile or car or SUV. Even my Yamaha MT-03 motorcycle new sold for an MSRP of $4599. If a bicycle costs more than this motorcycle, it better off better value or performance to be worth it. Though with tax, licensing, insurance & maintenance, the legal long term ownership costs even in America mean that the Motorcycle will cost $600 per year even if you do not ride it, just to have insurance, tabs, a plate, registration, a drivers license.
E-bikes are exempt from such on road motor vehicle requirements & costs & have radically lower operating costs as a result. The MT-03 also 373 US pounds or 169.19 Kilograms also vastly heavier than most e-bikes that also have significantly less performance than the MTO3 which can reach 60 MPH or 100kph in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 112mph & when ridden at legal speeds can easily give 58 to 83 MPG or miles per gallon running on regular unleaded gasoline widely sold in America as E10 or with up to 10% ethanol added. Noting that I exclusive fuel our 2020 Yamaha MT-03 with E0 or ethanol free gasoline sold on pumps 1-4 at The Grange via Cenex, in Issaquah, Wa, USA, that is gathered with a 5 gallon metal gasoline safety can that has 3 fluid ounces of red fuel stabilizer & 4 onces of fuel additive first added before the gasoline fill up at the pump.
I later pour this fuel into a polymer 2.5g or 10L fuel can with push button control of the fuel output, that makes filling small gasoline tanks vastly easier, safer & more controllable than trying to do so at the gas pump with this big silly spring loaded vapor recovery things that turn the pump handle off if they are not compressed enough, which is annoying and possible dangerous when trying to fuel a motorcycle, scooter or gas can. I understand why they want to recover the gasoline vapors that escape when fuel entering the tank displaces & forces gasoline vapor out of the filler into the air where the person is standing breathing, operating the gas pump handle & hose to fuel their vehicle.
Fuel stabilizer increases the shelf life of gasoline from 3 months before oxidation damage sets in, to about 2 years. I highly recommend the use of fuel stabilizer in any gasoline fueled power equipment like a lawn mower, pressure washer, backup generator, or any other infrequently operated carburetor equipped small engine device with a crude un-sealed gas tank and parts in the fuel system easily damaged by water or ethanol, noting that E10 gasoline is hygroscopic and able to such moisture from air into the fuel, thus E10 and E15 fuels need to be used in sealed fueling systems like those present in nearly all 2008 a later model year passenger vehicles, cars, trucks and SUV's.
Noting that many small engine scooters, motorcycles, chainsaws, & other small engine device are still not fuel injected, often air cooled, ideas that were supplanted with better automotive technology many decades ago. Legacy engine technology like a 31cc two stoke chainsaw motor are simpler, easier, lighter weight & higher performance, and cheaper to make, but automakers had to stop using 2 stoke engines because of increasingly strict emissions regulations or laws like CAFE and EPA rules in the USA.
When a transportation device is 10X less expensive, many thousands or percent more people can afford one. That means that cheaper hyper efficient vehicles like a bicycle can be sold to hundreds of millions of people on limited low budgets, where expensive niche carbon vehicles that cost tens of thousands are only practical to people with high incomes in rich countries.
