OBD II tools cool to reset codes after car repair

$23 tool used to fix O2 sensor theft OBDII code issue

Cleaver cheap tool can track more than 40 different parameters of your engine & vehicle using an OBDII display of live data or data stream mode, or read ECU codes to help solve or fix problems & also allows you to clear codes to turn off dash master indicator lamp (MIL) or engine check lamp (graphic looks like an engine)

A thief took the catalytic converter & rear O2 sensor out of our 2010 Prius III, causing ECU to log P0420 code which turned on the "Engine Check" dash light (MIL, master indicator lamp) which turns orange indicating a problem detected by the onboard diagnostic generation two system or OBDII system present on nearly all modern cars & SUV's & trucks & busses but not on motorcycles sadly // I used a cheap $23 OBDII tool from Amazon to fix the MIL lamp issue trigged by O2 sensor missing. Special thanks to Scotty Kilmer the honest mechanic YouTube hero savior of so many people who watch his amazingly information rich & helpful content!

Last night I took our 2010 Prius for a drive up i90 with the OBD tool plugged into the OBDII port & ran every diagnostic test & viewed every channel of data & view the exhaust system codes & cleared them, which turned off the dash MIL lamp thankfully. With the new aftermarket catalytic converter & new O2 sensor the 2010 Prius gets much better fuel economy now ~50 MPG vs 43 MPG + noise really loud mode with the OEM Catalytic converter missing // was interesting to drive for a couple weeks with the exhaust that loud, I could hear the engine like never before & since I am obsessed with vehicles that was cool even though I had to wear earplugs to commute to work // mostly all highway speeds //

OBD II tools like the ScanGuage2 in our 2005 Prius are really cool add ons to your vehicle! Similarly that tools was able to reset the MIL light in our Gen 2 Prius after we replaced the stolen catalytic converter & rear O2 sensor // I have that ScanGuage installed over an OBD Y cable with my pay by the mile care insurance dongle plugged into the other port //

"On-board diagnostics (OBD) is an automotive term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability. OBD systems give the vehicle owner or repair technician access to the status of the various vehicle sub-systems. The amount of diagnostic information available via OBD has varied widely since its introduction in the early 1980s versions of on-board vehicle computers. Early versions of OBD would simply illuminate a malfunction indicator light or "idiot light" if a problem was detected but would not provide any information as to the nature of the problem. Modern OBD implementations use a standardized digital communications port to provide real-time data in addition to a standardized series of diagnostic trouble codes, or DTCs, which allow a person to rapidly identify and remedy malfunctions within the vehicle." according to related wikipedia article
