Moon Missions

The First Full View of Earth
Some people think the Apollo moon missions were a hoax: at $25.4 billion spent by 1973,  that would be the largest, most complex, longest lasting deception ever executed.

The future of Computing is Wearable

Reading a review of the iWatch OS3 by Walt Mossberg (this guy is awesome!), I was reminded of how computers will be worn in the future, and in some ways they already are (smartphones, bluetooth ear buds, smart watches)

Smartphones eating PC & Camera markets!

If you purchased a digital camera in the last few years, there are few incentives to upgrade! Like the PC market, the camera market is being eaten alive by smartphones!

Lithium Ion Batteries Made of Oil

Lithium Ion batteries are made of petrochemical oil derivatives, the LiPo case material, electrolyte, separator film, the chemical additives, cell wraps, labels, BMS board components, and the plastic housing of the BMS.

Digital Extensions of You Online

You likely exist as a digital extension of yourself outline. Every time you use a search engine, your IP address and what you searched for paints a picture of who you are. If that was done on your smartphone, the extension goes even deeper.

Patented Molecules < Patenting Bio Mimicry Combinations

Voltaire wrote about the failures of single compound modified isolate patent molecule pharmaceuticals hindered by side effects!

"Physicians pour drugs of which they know little, to cure diseases of which they know less, into humans of which they know nothing"

I found this quotation in an amazing book, the link below is hyperlinked to Amazon so you can pick up a paper or e-book copy.

Health and Healing: The Philosophy of Integrative Medicine

Globalization of the English Language

If everyone communicates in the same language, then all people can communicate more effectively.

56 calories per day to loose 5lbs per year

If you want to loose 5lbs on this same day by next year, cut out 56 calories per day from your diet, or you can burn the extra bit with a 15min walk. Eat less and move more, its not magic !

Alcohol more harmful than Cannabis

Addiction experts in psychiatry, chemistry, pharmacology,

Neurosynaptic Learning AI Autopilot for Cars : Artificial Neural Networks the Key

Developmental robotics using artificial neural networks takes the approach of using a learning AI that must be trained like a baby, knowing nothing at first, but learning vast amounts of knowledge in a cumulative process similar to going to school for 18 years, but in only a few weeks, because the robots can share their learning with each other online, hooked up to wifi and with LTE, just like a fleet of Tesla Model S's!

Smartphones Revolutionized Photography in 2011

Apple's iPhone 4S brought in the era of mobile photography linked to Facebook, Twitter, and the internet in many ways, uploading photos that people capture everywhere, the "Selfie" emblematic of the era we live in today. The digital photography revolution started in 2011!

Connecting the Human Mind to Computers

Nothing will expand the power of the human mind more than hybridizing brains with digital & analog AI based computing platforms that use neurosynaptic processing modeled after the computational biological information processing in the human brain. In Defense of Ethics : George Westinghouse!

Good people make the world better, visionaries that changed the world, all of them setting out to make the world "better"! You learned right from wrong when you were a child, so why do bad people exist? Who knows. George Westinghouse's life is the best defense of ethics that I can think of, just short of the life and times of Jesus Christ. Ethics matter! Lets make the world better together!

LTE a miraculous solution to Mobile Broadband

On facebook I condemned FB for putting up UAV's that create WIFI in poor countries, where the local government squander tax revenue on luxury cars, aircraft, mansions, servants and lux galore for the diplomats while the average person is so poor they don't have running water or electricity, and even if it was available, they would not have the income to pay for the service!

Kind Words Make all the Difference

You can lift other people up with positive edifying words or tear other people down with negative condemning words!

People are connected by social networks of communication, informal associations, friendships, relationships, made of words that were shared, ideas shared, common goals, when we collaborate everyone wins!

GMO the Key to Living Forever

Genetic engineering will be the key to endless life. Why should a tree live 600 years if a person dies after about 80?

Purpose

Intentionally doing something because you are able, because you want to, because it is cool, fun, interesting, exhilarating, makes you smile, because you are alive, living in each moment as they fly into the past, forging your way into the future one instant at a time, choose wisely!

The Spark of Consciousness Explored

A relatively slow biological computer, the human brain is the pinnacle of intelligence in nature, at least potentially in some people for brief periods while they are alive! 700TB of data storage, the human brain hosts a lot of memories!

Intelligent Population Regulation

People are afraid to give up their rights to reproduce, but there are lot of bad parents in the world, people who are frankly unfit to be parents who had children anyway. The sick cycle repeats, and now we have 19 kids and counting, two dumb fools who barely graduated from high school producing an army of similarly confused people, to who's benefit?

Keep Learning

"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young" ~ Henry Ford

Salt & Your Body

Water intake and sodium intake from salt are balanced by the brain, kidneys, bones, blood production, urine creation, hormones, and a biological system in the body so elegant and complex that our bodies exceed and eclipse even the most complex man made technologies!

Innovations = Shared Wealth & Prosperity for Everyone!

Innovations create shared wealth and prosperity. Politics hinder technological progress. Can we move beyond listening to the wisdom in TED videos to actually doing something with the truth!

Public Urination

Everyone has to pee, and when you are stuck in a traffic jam, congested public transportation place, or somewhere else where a bathroom is impractical to access, what can we reasonably expect people to do with number 1?

All Lives Matter

All life is precious, temporary, each entity living and dying, none of us get out of this world alive!

History Made of Moments : You Live in the Moment

Long ago I had the pleasure of briefly studying Zen Buddhism, under the direction of legendary teacher Rob Prufer. The deepest meaning I was able to derive from this study was that the core tenant in Zen Buddhism is to live in each moment completely and as fully engaged as possible, focusing on here and now, being happy where you are at, aware, awake, alive.

25mi in 5.25 hours on the Segway Mini Pro

As the crow 13mi or 21km! The real route much longer
Braving common sense, inspired by a movie where a man rode a Segway from Seattle to Boston, I took our Segway Mini Pro from 228th in Sammamish near the country club, 25mi all the way to Fairwood in Renton. 5 hours 15min, two stops for charging :)

4K Gaming : Project Scorpio : My next Xbox

Europeans Fitter From More Movement, Higher Food Costs & Smaller Serving Sizes

Traveling to western Europe may shock people from China, India, America or other parts of the world where food is cheaper. Serving sizes in France for example, according to my own experiences in 2000 were about 40% smaller per dollar eq at a restaurant. In Tokyo Japan I saw the same high food costs, smaller servings, smaller people who walk more and drive less, often riding trains standing up.

Pulsed Magnetic Fusion not Hot Fusion : The Key to Commercialization of Fusion Energy

General Atomics and Lockheed Martin have a strategic partnership to pipeline secretive defense fusion energy technology into commercial power applications aimed at ending coal power in 2026.

Wi-Fi Explored

Online research of transparent technologies many people use every day, here I do a brief exploration of WiFi, a technology that began back in 1997 because of CISERO research done by scientists in Australia to find tiny black holes. Click read more to dig deeper!

Complex Human Thinking

I am reading a book about the human brain, and it has inspired me to think about my own mind, emotions, thoughts and ideas. Now I listen to my thinking in a new way, thinking about thinking, and it has become more clear to me why understanding consciousness is so difficult! Here I explain why, click read more if you are interested in thinking about thinking!

EHT in Coffee : Healthy Neurons = Sharper Cognition

A friend of mine recommended Nerium, an EHT supplement, which caused me to start researching EHT (eicosanoyl-5-hydroxytryptamide). I promptly purchased a French Press, 2 bags of whole bean coffee and a coffee grinder. Beware of the supplement EHT, its a pyramid scheme distribution system. The inventor is a liar, and Nerium is full of questionable components like titanium dioxide! Do your research before you buy supplements. Organic Coffee is a better solution!

The Era of Lithium Ion

Your cell phone, your tablet, your Tesla Model S, your Segway Ninebot, your iPhone, your Android, your laptop, your portable router, your high output LED rechargeable 18650 flashlight, your portable battery packs, the mobile power we consume today is Lithium Ion! Tesla Giga-Factory FTW

Budget Math : Honda PCX150 Scooter Edition + Honda CRZ TCO and CPM ^^

Post Violates Design Principle normally used in my other writing: its my frugal thinking about budget math to understand why I am paying to have and use my stuff, to understand is to know, and to know is to understand more completely. Knowledge is power, set yourself free!

CPM and TCO for our 2013 Honda PCX-150

Cost $4600 new Paid in Full

At 85mpg, it sips fuel, cheap to fill the 1.6 gallon tank, good for 120mi of riding at 55mph as a realistic cruising speed maximum, though it can peak to 68mph max before the 153cc liquid cooled fuel injected single achieves the RPM range limiter, the 12.9hp failing to elevate the speed beyond 68mph max.

$2.90 for 1 gallon that can move the scooter about 75 to 105 mi, centering around 85MPG in city suburban use cases. Not meant for constant highway use, but it can do it....
Cheap to fuel
27,000mi of fuel will cost 317 gallons, or $1000 estimated though 2023

Tires $400 pair, every 8000 mi : $1400 over 27,000mi

Services $1500 over 27,000 mi

Repairs $600 over 27,000 mi

1000+ 1400 + 1500 + 600 = $4500 operating costs vs $4600 capital costs or $9100

Estimated mi log yield in 12 years to 27,000 mi or about 2200mi per year $759 per year or $63/mo

Out of pocket realized costs only $40/ mo now because the capital cost was already paid, and the title is held, owned. Its ours to take care of, use, pay for, enjoy! Hopefully safely for a long time!

Special gear cost warning, helmets $750, gloves $100, boots $200, etc, the special gear for summer safety, its not cheap, we are taking about $1200 of gear potentially if you go pro out of the gate.

We are talking about a CPM of $0.34 per mile, a 10 miles drive will cost $4 total
We are talking about a TCO of $10,500 with gear updates rarely!
With Meg, other special gear, we are into the $12,000 range on a motor scooter, one obtained by trading in our 2009 Suzuki GSX-R600 + $504 cash to get the PCX free and clear after all taxes and so forth, sold! 3 years later and it only has 2,700 miles, but I will fix that now!

Now we live 35mi away from the place I will drive it round trip perhaps 70 times per year max if I use special warm dry gear that I do not own to operate rain or shine in spring and fall, and warm in winter if dry and non freezing temps.

The sad trade in value is only at $1450 now, according to Tom of Lake City Powersports, the owner operator sales guy who sold me the PCX160 back in April of 2013

Brief CRZ 2014 TCO
$78,300 for 200,000 mi of operation or $0.40 per mile
Total via addition of following fee/ cost estimates

$22000 base price
$5000 options, warranty additions and a service contract
$3000 in loan fees over 7 years
$5000 repairs for 200,000 mi
$4500 services for 200,000 mi
$21,000 for fuel for 200,000 mi
$17,800 for 20 years of insurance

Diesel Dead End Exhaust Emissions Externalities Scrutinized in Japan

In Japan, the government is going outside the laboratory for emissions testing in the real world after diesel vehicle models from Honda, Toyota, Nissan & VW have failed updated lab tests.

Methanol from Atmospheric CO2

The new CO2 to Methanol process is not competitive with $30 per barrel oil, but commercialization of the captured CO2 to methanol process is at least 5 to 10 years in the future.

Disruptive Lithium Sulfur Batteries

Offering more than 2x the energy density of conventional lithium ion batteries, LiS or Lithium Sulfur batteries have been used in aerospace UAV applications since 2006. Short cycle life and safety issues plague the LiS chemistries, but R&D aimed at improving LiS will pave the way for smartphones with 4 days of battery life in just a few more years.

Oil Prices to $100 by 2020

In 1998 the inflation adjusted price per barrel reached an all time low of ~$12.50, so lets party like its 1999 ^^ My first foray into oil stock investing via some COP shares on the first day of Feb 2016

Low Gas Prices : Short Term Memories

The high climate and air pollution costs of low pump prices. People rushing out to buy gas guzzlers (SUV) while the pump price is low $2/gal, many will end up keeping these vehicles for 11 more years, long after the price rebounds to $6 or more per gallon. I hope to see oil hit $200 per barrel in the near future.

The 2015 Honda CB300F

2015 Honda CB300F
My first two bikes were 600cc super sports (wrist strain, awkward seating angle), my current bike is a very comfy but kind poky PCX150 scooter, the next one we plan to add to our vehicle collection is a Honda CB300F. Not until the 2017 model year at the soonest. I have to save $5k after paying off $4k of existing credit card debt at 17% interest. This gives Honda that time to recall all the 2015 and early 16 models that have defective crank bearings and defective camshaft bearings. The fix from Honda is not out until Aug 2016.

Ethics of a Honest Motorcycle Dealer named Tom

These guys are great, its where our Honda PCX150 came from. I gave them my business because they were honest and ethical. Lake City Powersports in Seattle.

X-point Disruptive to IT

Imagine a desktop or laptop that boots up in 1 second with all the programs and apps already loaded into its main memory, along with every file, photo, video, database, etc all up ready to launch instantly with no lag. Intel XPoint is the solution.

OLED moving beyond Phones

Today, Samsung Smartphones dominate the OLED experiences that people are enjoying around the world, but LG and Samsung are bringing that technology (pure black, low power consumption, high dynamic range) Super OLED tech to large format TV screens, laptops, desktop monitors, and other glowing rectangle displays, even some that can roll up almost like paper.

Amazon Echo : Cool

Like adding Star Trek or Jarvis to your kitchen, especially if you connect the Echo to some smart switches, smart outlets, or smart appliances that work with it. Amazon continues giving it more features with updates, so its becoming a cooler and more capable product as time rolls on.

Emotional Logic

Thinking about how logical thinking and emotional thinking coexist in our mental cloud computer framework.

Our minds are composed of layers of complex abstract logic, sensory information processing, memory management, process cycle focus control, motor control, endocrine control, biological control though neuro-peptides, small signaling chemicals that control the living systems of the body, trillions of cells working together in a mutualism system of self improvement, repair, and functioning, everyone is born then become old and then dies, ephemeral like the blooms of a flower. While we are here, what we think about and say, how we affect each other. Its not all the logic and reason of IBM watson, but something more than Apple Siri or Google Now, something more than Amazon Alexa through Echo, each person is more than those AI engines put together, our mind is far more complex than the cloud computers of today, but they are both computers. Your brain is a fuel cell information engine, with automatic pattern recognition, general intelligence, acute skill building potential, and amazing motion control, organ control, and body system control.

Think about Systems
What is a system?
What are related components, how do our cells know what to do. Biological Intelligence is totally automatic, healing outside the realm of medicine today, the body heals itself before dying. Complicated intellectual frameworks to think of our minds as layers of cloud computing, with natural language processing, and automatic idea creation, building, innovation, memory sorting, memory storage and deleting of unnecessary memory data. Our brain is like Intel X point memory compute, a product that does not exit where the memory and CPU are the same device. Your brain is the network, the internet of your body!

The Roads of Today with Vehicles of Tomorrow

Making use of the existing roadways is more eco friends than investing trillions into a new system of rails, rails that would never connect to all of the suburban neighborhoods where everyone lives in America.

Papa Schwarz Memories Live On

Get down..... and boogie

Here, we can see my parents enjoying life to the fullest, to celebrate the holy union of my sister to her lovely husband.

Today was a sad day, as the world lost a wonderful man name Ken Schwarz, the only father I ever knew, he adopted me and treated me as his own. He was a great dad, a great person, a funny guy, a real man. He went through a lot of hardships in life but his optimism, sense of of humor and light hearted positivity prevailed.

My wife and I spent a good portion of our day and night grieving, with eyes of tears, and hearts full of sadness and sorrow, but we share this GIF image to celebrate the spirit of Papa Schwarz, our beloved father who passed away today. We will not remember him for his death, but instead we share this to celebrate the life he lived, his spirit of fun and happiness.

The Ethics of 7 Billion People

With 7 billion people, our civilization is still plagued with corruption, war, poverty, pollution, rape, prostitution, slavery, hatred, bigotry, ignorance, stupidity, sickness, suffering, preventable diseases and illnesses, side effect heavy prescription drugs, greed, and evil. We can and must each choose to do better than this.... and together we can move mountains and solve these problems.

Meg Love Point GIF

Using PicGif, an App Store on IOS app, I took some photos of my lovely wife Meg, and made a GIF image with them. I share this here because facecbook does not allow its users to post GIF images yet. Glad that Google allows its blog posters to share GIF images.

Forest Fires Create Dangerous Air Pollution

Air quality is something that everyone should be thinking about when shopping for a vehicle of any kind. Clean technology vehicles create less air pollution, and if you think about your car, its probably the tail pipe of carcinogens that you interact with the most, and this is true for most people in America, who in one way or another are hopelessly linked to using a car for transportation

Ancient Sun Energy Depletion

When a barrel of oil can be turned into $700 of plastic and chemicals, why are we burning it for $40 to $140? Why are vehicles so aerodynamically inefficient? Why are their no choices but blended international petrol at the gas station pump? Is this capitalism if the burning of oil products does not make economic sense? What about the ecological impacts on earths food farms from the pollution emitted by all the exhaust pipes in the world? What about our economy, we make still have to import 10 million barrels per day to fuel our transportation infrastructure, is that economically sustainable?

Sun Energy

1 square meter of earth or the ocean under full daylight is receiving 1kw of sunlight energy. Plants use this energy to covert water, co2 and minerals in living soil into food for us to eat and for animals to eat so that we can eat the animals too.

Life on earth is solar powered, industry is not. We power most of our infrastructure burning ancient sunlight, carbon based fuels that were once plants and animals. Subjected to the heat and pressure in earths crust, these plants and animals were slowly cooked in the absence of oxygen, creating hydrogen rich carbon molecules. Today we mine this coal and oil and natural gas from earths crust in an unsustainable system of natural resource depletion, pollution generation and ecological food system damage that is ultimately bad for our long term success as a civilization. The entrenched powerful industries that render this burnable carbon from the earth want to keep society linked to using energy dense liquid fossil fuels in transportation.

When a barrel of crude oil can be converted to $700 worth of plastics and petrochemicals, what on earth are we doing burning oil in crude inefficient internal combustion engine applications willing to pay only $40 to $140 for that barrel. The oil industry could make way more money and pressure society into moving beyond burning oil by converting most of the oil to plastics and chemicals.

So, then if it does not make economic sense to burn the increasingly hard to get at oil from earth crust, why are we still doing it? Stupidity and corruption in the oil sector and government and a lack of reasonable choices or alternatives at the consumer level. At the gas pump of today you have only one choice most of the time, petrol, is that a free market ?

While our amazing Sun outputs more energy in 1 minute than humans create in an entire year, capturing this energy is tricky business on the earth surfaces because our world is spinning on an axis, while also spinning about the Sun. The key solution to solar powers intermittent nature is energy storage technology.

2013-15 Honda CR-Z Lithium Ion Battery

Not the easiest information to find online, the specifications and details of the CR-Z battery are not something that Google will easily navigate too. I did the tenacious internet scouring using lots of search terms and dug up what I believe to be the truth about the Lithium Ion battery in the 13,14,15MY Honda CR-Z hybrid coupe :)
