Magnetic Transformers in an Age of Ai Models

Data centers use tremendous amounts of electricity, Medium Voltage Commercial Power, say 480vac 3-phase grid power connections. A typical large data center uses as much power as 50,000 houses in USA, in addition to single through water cooling that contaminates drinking water with chemical additives that were added to prevent corrosion of the cooling systems components. Along with an annoying hum noise emitting by rooftop HVAC equipment fans spinning emitting a loud hum noise persistently 24/7, pissing off nearby residents.

Calls for 800vdc power systems in data centers and ammonia chillers to lower cooling power use, we see that magnetic transformers are not going away, even if bigger, heavier and not as efficient as solid state power transformer technology, because legacy laminated steel with copper windings robust, long lasting, reliable, and in applications where constantly on power loading, the same reason that MH, HPS, Short Arc Xenon, Halogen & Incandescent still find applications in a world of so many LED's that work well at cold, cool or warm temperatures, but melt or burn out fast at temps higher than 140 F.
