The movement converts user movements into spring power to run the 21 Jewel bearing enhanced mechanical watch movement. The movement contains a Date (Day) function that displays the Day of the Month in addition to the 12 hour Analog Circular Clock Display.
The stainless steel construction with minimal steel gives a polished precise feel that accents the skeleton case system. Synthetic sapphire bearing are visible with UV lighting upon the rear window in the swept void space under the flywheel mass energy input weight. Gently rotate the watch head to move the weight around while shining the UV CFL or LED light (blacklight or blue laser) to activate the fluorescent effect of the sapphire jewel bearings. Phosphorescent paint dots at the hour position give many hours of progressive after dusk functionality and can be recharged with the LED lamp on your phone or flashlight. The hands hour & minute contain glow in the dark paint that is color matched to the hour position dots. Sealed to 10 BAR of pressure (145 PSI), the Seiko 5 is water resistant.
