Interval Fasting Protects Your Brain with Autophagy

When you stop eating, about 5 hours later, usually at night while your asleep, your body goes into nutrition ketosis, meaning you have already digested what you ate at your last meal, probably dinner or desert, and while you sleeping you body starts burning stored glycogen and fat for fuel. 

If you do like me and skip breakfast and just drink black coffee or tea with nothing added, and or water first thing early in the morning and wait as long as you can before eating lunch, that means your body in a interval of fasting between when you last stopped eating the day before and when you start eating today. 

For many people a great starting place with interval fasting is to skip either breakfast or dinner. 

One meal per day means a big lunch, no dinner, no breakfast, and one of the most extreme forms of interval fasting. Also if you choose to skip breakfast and eat lunch, eat dinner earlier, like many older people do, and that gives your body more time to break down foods into liquids for digestion, since food has to become a liquid to pass across the membranes in the gut, small and large intestines, and colon respectively. 

Autophagy comes from the Greek terms for "To Eat" and "Ones Self" or in other words, for your body to eat itself, cleaver given they knew that in antiquity, since fasting has been part of human cultures around the world for thousands of years. Before that, food was not always readily available and the hunter gather peoples way back then went many days without food, especially during winter. 

When people have surgeries, colon inspections by protologists and similar gastric medical procedures, they have to stop eating solid food, only drink liquid food, then drink a bunch of laxative fluid from a giant plastic jug, that way all the poop is gone by the time they come in for the medical procedure. 

I was developing type 2 diabetes, gastric bloating and gas and liquids of mucus and similar coming out of my anus, and had to start wearing underwear liner pads that my lovely wife shares with me, because I was having gastric problems, my liver was enlarged, my triglycerides were too high, and I was having yet to be discovered, very high blood sugar levels. By the time I finally did a blood glucose test, the first test was 347 or really high blood glucose levels. 

Stunned, I went online and searched about how to cure Type 2 diabetes, and found many YouTube videos by doctors about Keto Diet, a low carb diet, interval fasting, the science of fasting, water fasting, fasting, how to fast, how to fast with Type 1 diabetes by reducing insulin intake by 50%, how to water fast at home, and many more, that explained how the human metabolism works, how carbs and starches and many beverages have a high glycemic index meaning they easily raise blood sugar levels quickly. 

Fiber consumed with carbs reduces the blood sugar spiking effects of high glycemic foods like sugary soda, candy, pop, dessert, pie, ice cream, bread, rice, pasta, anything made with flour, potato, or other starchy, carbohydrate, cheap, abundant foods, especially the nasty sugar itself, as toxic as ethanol when abused. I think sugars are dose dependent toxins just like ethanol. 

Even yeasts are improved by interval fasting. Many research animals show tremendous improvements when interval fasting. When animals eat too much, too often, the wrong things, unhealthy sugary foods, then they get brain fog, have memory problems, can't focus, can't remember things, become forgetful, develop dementia, and there is plenty of emerging evidence the nutritional abuse of food, emotionally eating foods in excess, especially eating sugary foods, a probably main cause of Alzheimers disease. 

That is what it means when the researchers are publishing online that the overconsumption of foods makes people fat and sick, but is also neurotoxic or poisonous to our brains just as much as ethanol abuse.

Recently in many different scientific research projects about the human body, health, the metabolism, and physiology, and nutrition have well demonstrated and proven that interval fasting provide a cellular defense against malignancy, cancers, infections and neurodegenerative diseases. 

There exits more evidence that sugar foods cause ADD and ADHD in children, as well as rotting their teeth away, these junks foods also make children obese, especially when combined with inactivity or sitting around all the time and not exercising or getting enough physical activity by going for walks, playing sports, doing physical activities, playing outside games, going for a bicycle ride, hiking or doing something physically active that moves the blood around and helps our brains work better. 

When we eat, it blocks autophagy, and thats why a lot of cell repairs happen at night while we are asleep. Most people do not eat while they are sleeping, except in their dreams, but hey dreams are not real, though dreams can seem just as real as reality, since your brain a virtual 3 pound universe of 86 billion neurons and can accurately simulate your waking sense of reality while you are lying in bed virtually still as though your barely alive or almost dead, asleep in REM stages or NREM, but the fun happens in REM or rapid eye movement, where a few minutes or REM can feel in the dream like entire days, weeks, months or even years. I have woken from nested dreams 3 layers deep, meaning I woke up 3 times in a row, only the last time entering objective reality as we know it and collectively agree about it. 

Sleep health is very important for your overall health because not getting enough sleep makes people more hungry and one of the reasons that people overeat, is because not sleeping blocks leptin production so they don't feel full as fast when eating. Sleep deficits also up regulates or increases the release of Ghrelin the hunger hormone that makes people hungry, or stimulates their appetite for foods and beverages. 

Water is my favorite beverage, other than dark roasted coffee beans made into espresso, or into the French Press as coffee, or the AeroPress as coffee thats expresso like. I love coffee & espresso! It's not an addiction, its obsession, and packed with health benefits like soluble fiber and polyphenols :) 

I really love dark roasted beans with full flavor. The freshly ground coffee smells so amazing that Meg & I both have this awe inspired joy from taking a full whiff. I grind with a dosing funnel directly into the 54mm basket, somewhere between 5-12 grams of finely ground coffee, espresso fine. I use a 3D printed solid PETG basket holder and press to firmly press the grinds into the basket, then screw that basket and handle into the espresso machine thats been on for a while to get the water heating block up to temp, so I can pull shots right away. Compared to the French Press, the espresso setup is much faster :) 

Lately I have been adding a splash of Soy Milk to my espresso. I also do a longer pull, in stages, at different temperatures, to extract even more from the freshly ground beans that I grind with the high precision Eureka Mignon Notte grinder that I spent several dozen hours tuning to get the exact grind setting I like. 

This allows the aftermarket stainless steel w. hard wood handle basket pulling shots of expresso barista style with slow mo video worthy juicy delicious luscious thick lovely expresso flowing down in the white ceramic mug like some kind of celestial miracle in the morning, around 4 or 5 am that helps me wake up for the day. 

I actually went back to bed and was able to sleep after having a single pull of espresso, and got a couple hours of added sleep this morning. I have time off thankfully because of 'Winter Break" associated with Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day, then its back to work on Jan 2nd, driving the School Bus with the middle school children that I care about, as I focus on absolute safety while driving :) 

Homeostasis a way that your body tries to balance all of its processes. Many things, like hormone disrupting pollutants are toxic because they knock things out of whack in the body, disrupting homeostatic processes in ways that harm cells and organs and flesh.

Fasting short term a simple, cheap, easy way to get your cells to clean up and recycle broken cell funk, metabolites, goo, cell garbage and cell waste, and use those molecules to make new cells, automatically, when your not eating or busy digesting food, at night while your asleep. 

For adults the best nutritional advice I can give, skip a meal! Going hungry is fine. Drink more water and take a pinch of salt. You can easily go 24-48 hours without food, just makes sure to drink enough water to stay well hydrated. Your urine should be light straw yellow or pale yellow in color, clear, without bubbles, if you're well hydrated and in good health.
