Original modeling was taking into account the glacier melting & ice caps melting, which are also the largest sources of fresh water on Earth, but such models were off by 1.7 inches of drift per year without including the ground water pumping data. 

The location of where the water pumped matters since the redistribution of water from midlatitudes 35 degrees north & 65 deg south of the equator have the greatest impact on rotational pole drift. 

Like with climate change, human activity enhances the rates of natural phenomena like species extinction which human thoughtless over population & inconsiderate concrete jungle development speeds up. We are cheating out grandchildren & their grandchildren with carbon emissions, air pollution, sound pollution, toxic side effect drugs widely prescribed by doctors who know little about their patients, less about the diseases the patient suffers from and even less about the drugs they are legally allowed to prescribe, often patients taking more than one prescription drug at a time, and no one has any idea how this mixes of drugs interact in the human body.

In medicine it's called practicing because the doctors like so many other people, lack all the answers. They learn from failure as they go, eventually outlawing drugs that over time prove to have too much toxicity or not enough therapeutic value based on evidence.
